Oh to find what I'm looking for

I love food. And I want the food I eat and make for my family to be the absolute best possible for the least amount of money possible. So, I shop around. Sometimes I will have to go to 2-4 stores to find what I need to make a new recipe, but thats ok, as long as I find what I'm looking for.

A few weeks ago I was despratly searching for fresh BASIL. With no luck at H.E.B., Walmart, or Target, I reluctantly went to Kroger and found little packages of Organic Basil for $2 per package. I had to buy two. Well I was trying out a new homemade Basil pesto recipe and had already made the stuff without realizing that I needed Basil. DOH! So, I had to pay $2 for each tiny bit of basil.

After that experience I emailed Kroger asking if they could get larger bunches of basil... They did. A bush of live basil is what I found the next week or so when I went to Kroger. I was STOKED. It only cost $3 and was two plants, with roots of LIVING basil. So I could use it whenever I wanted. I wish I'd have taken a picture of it.

Well, after all that drama. I decided to purchase my own basil plant. It cost me $4 at home depot and I have cut the leaves from it two times now to make my pesto. SCORE! I love my little basil plant. I supposed I should go take a picture of it. Beware, I just cut all the larger leaves yesterday to make more pesto this weekend...

I think pretty soon Im going to need a larger pot cause this stuff is growing like crazy!
What I love about my new pesto is that it has Omega-3 that we are almost all deficient in.

Well, this post was seriously my little crazy schpeel about Basil and my pesto. LOL I'll try to take a picture of the Basil Pesto later when I make it.

GOTTA LOVE IT!
